Products are only part of the solution.
Have you ever started an organizing project at the store? “I KNOW this box is going to be the answer to my prayers…” you might have told yourself.
Now, before I go any further, let me just say that I have no issue with products, but for most, they are not the place to start when you first decide to start organizing.
The first thing you should do if you are embarking on an organizing project, is to go through, sort, and cut down your belonging. Get rid of what you don’t need and then look at what you have left. Now think of what types of boxes and storage containers you need for the items left first BEFORE you go out and start shopping for new products.
Once that process is complete, you have a way better idea of what will stay and how it should be housed. Sure, research and an occasional field trip is great – just don’t go crazy. If you buy a ton of storage containers at the store, bring them all home, find they don’t fit well or aren’t quite what you need, then suddenly the things that were originally supposed to help will become part of the clutter.
So, sort first, then go and buy those cute containers at Storables or russell+hazel. You’ll save yourself some money, aggravation, and time in the end!
