Back in summer 2000, the magazine New Scientist published an article about how tea bags can cure ‘sick building syndrome,’ i.e. the sore throat and nausea that fresh paint and glue can cause.
Tea and tea bags absorb the chemical formaldehyde, the basis of this sickness. In other words, tea bags clean the air—kind of like plants without the dirt and water.
So, this had led to many individuals getting a second usage out of their old tea bags by hanging them around the house. Some people just like to make them into garlands. Others make amazing and creative crafts with theirs. Some hid them behind pretty screens. And some draw pictures on them like Rafael Dussan did. The possibilities are endless.
So, save a tea bag and your health and recycle those tea bags when you’re done with them.
